Our cat had Siouxie had kittens. She waited until we got home from a wedding at 8:00 and then went into labor as soon as we laid down in bed. She ran around to my side of the bed and put her paws up on the bed and made the craziest sound. Like the kind of sound a lion would make. Then she ran to Andrew's side of the bed. "What's the matter Siouxie? Do you want me to be with you?" Andrew asked.
"Yeooowaaaa!!" she answered.
"She said yeah!"
So Andrew sat outside the dishwasher box cat house we made her while she had two adorable kittens.
The next morning, Francesca named the calico one Star, because she has a little orangie star on her head and the black on is Mackintosh. I was really impressed that she chose the name Mackintosh. I thought she got it from the poem, "Happiness."
John had great big waterproof boots on.
John had a great big waterproof hat.
John had a great big waterproof Mackintosh,
And that, said John, is that.
But I'm pretty sure she got it from a book about a girl that gets a pony named Mackintosh.

Star opened her eyes today! Macintosh still has his closed. They're always either cuddled up on each others' necks or eating on their mama. Cute!
congrats on being a grandma? that's right... i'm thinkin' kittie is ur kid and the kittens are ur grandkids. yeah. that's right. ur a grandma... many many more years ahead of what u thought
Macintosh opened his eyes today and I saw them playing with each other today. It was so cute. Star was on her back and Mackintosh, who is still just scooting around, was wrestling Star back.
I'm a little worried about Mackintosh's eyes. I called the vet to see if he could make a house call to check him out. His eyes just look a little cloudy and he doesn't seem to be able to see as well as Star. I hope he's okay! He was born an hour after Star, so hopefully he's not brain damaged or something. I'm probably worrying for no good reason - he's probably fine, and I'm just worrying because he's not as robust as Star is. Everyone is different, I guess. Even in the kitty world. I'm so impressed with what kind of mommy Suzy is . . . she just lays in there all day long and nurses and preens her little babies.
Macintosh is fine! His eyes were just a little slow to open. And he's really rambunctious and curious now. More so than Star. I think that Star is getting a little wary of the girls always packing her around so she hides out a little more, but Macintosh comes running back for more. Wether it's carrying them around in the baby carrier or rolling them through the house in the baby stroller, they're going to be great pets.
The kittens are so fat that their tummies hang down and swing low. Its so funny - they fall over sometimes because their tummies pull them over! Kittens are just like human babies - they both have a mama cat nipple that they prefer and they stick with those. You would think that with about 12 nipples to choose from, they'd do it buffet style, but no - they just keep coming to the same one every time. And Suzy is such a great mama. She just hangs out in there and plays with them and lets them nurse all day long. Even now, after four weeks.
